The Department of Agriculture is accelerating the creation of a learning center for “Smart Climate Control Equipment in Durian Orchards” to solve the problem of climate variability affecting durian production.
Academic cooperation activities under the MOU by lecturers from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, KMITL, consisting of Asst. Prof. Dr. Lamphan Kwanpoon, Asst. Prof. Dr. Somsak Kramchote, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Patcharaporn Suwo welcomed and led lecturers from Jilin Agricultural Science and Technology University (JASTU), consisting of Prof. Dr. Yin Baishuang, Prof. Dr. Wang Shuai, Prof. Dr. Sun Pengcheng, and Dr. Li Longfei, to observe the smart farm system for managing durian orchards and tropical fruits such as guava, longan, and coconut at the agricultural learning plot, Bangchak gas station, Wang Chan District, Rayong Province.
From @the perspective of a consumer of lecturers from JASTU, the quality of Thai durian is number 1, but our country still focuses on producing and selling fresh fruit more than processed fruit, which is easily spoiled and has limitations in terms of shelf life. The processing industry should be able to help increase the value of durian and reduce losses.
The agricultural product processing industry still has a small proportion. There must be a budget from the government and private sectors to jointly develop, promote and push Thailand to export more high-value agricultural products and agricultural industry products, such as future food, processed organic agricultural products and agricultural product extracts, in order to generate income for the country and distribute income to farmers.
Thank you very much to Mr. Saroj Kampusirikul for opening the garden and providing good quality, delicious fruits to welcome the study group this time.
