Mr. Rapiphat Chanthasriwong, Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, revealed that he has assigned Dr. Phaschanaphon Muenchaeng, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, who oversees the Smart Agriculture Project, to visit the working group and researchers involved in the Smart Agriculture Project in the farmer's plot that has been certified for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for food crops by the Department of Agriculture in Rayong Province to find ways to expand the smart technology developed by the Department of Agriculture to solve the problem of climate variability in the main durian growing areas in the Eastern region, especially the products from the Smart Agriculture Project of the Department of Agriculture in 2023, which has researched and developed a "Smart Climate Controller" to solve the problem of climate variability in durian orchards in the 2024 production season from the certification data for issuing a phytosanitary certificate for durian exports by the Plant and Agricultural Materials Control Office. Department of Agriculture in the 2024 production season from 1 January - 9 May 2024, there were exports of 1,173 containers/seals, quantity 19,098.51 tons, value 2,735.54 million baht, which the impact of weather has a direct effect on the quantity and quality of durian and causes durian to ripen faster than the specified period and there is some production remaining after the middle of May, but not much, which may cause the quantity of production and farmers' income to decrease.
